Yang started his college life in the Dance Department of People's Liberation Army Arts College in 2003. He is first known by the public for his role as senior JiaBaoyu in the television series The Dream of Red Mansions (it is a new adaptation of the classic Chinese novel &Dream of the Red Chamber&) which started shooting in 2008. When that television series made its debut in 2010, Yang Yang was awarded the Best New Artist that year of the BQ artist list (one of the most influential annul cultural event in the showbiz).In 2011, alongside many superstars in China, Yang Yang made his first appearance in the film industry, playing Yang Kaizhi, brother of Yang Kaihui in Beginning of the Great Revival. In 2013 he starred in an ancient costume historical drama Legend of Goddess Luo as Cao Zhi. His best known roles are Xu Yi in the movie The Left Ear, Wu Qing in kung fu drama The Four and Zhang Qiling in super season broadcast drama The Lost Tomb. And the role Wu Qing gained him the 2014 Campus Teen Choice Award on11th February 2015.Early LifeYang Yang was born in Shanghai. On June 23, 2012, Yang Yang’s second movie ‘Eat Drink Man Woman II’ was released. This is also the reunion of YangYang, Jiang Mengjie and Liqin. The three of them first worked together in The Dream of Red Mansions as leading actor and actresses. Later that year in September, in a war television series ‘The War Does Not Believe in Teasr’, Yang Yang played the role Du Changyou of Red Army. He portrayed himself in this TV series as he himself is also a serviceman.In 2013, in the famous Chinese writer, producer, director Jerry Jane’s ancient costume historical drama Legend of Goddess Luo, Yang Yang acted as leading actor Cao Zhi, he was voted the cutest Cao Zhi of Chinese television history ever. And in June, Yang finished shooting his role Wu Qing in kung fu drama The Four. One month later Yang Yang starred as the leading character Bai Niansheng in JiangHu Legendary Resistance television series The Ultimate Conquest in which he made his first step in fighting scene. At the end of 2013, Yang Yang attended a reality show called ‘Defense Elite---Chapter of Star Soldiers’ which is the very first reality show of military theme TV show in China. In November, the television series ‘Flowers of Pinellia Ternata’, an adaption of Jiu Yehui’s novel of the same name, was weekly broadcasted on Hunan TV. In that show Yang Yang acted as a ‘fuerdai’—well-off second generation called Lu Yuan. In the last month of 2013, Yang Yang entered the crew playing Huang Moru in a TV series called ‘Small Town Adventures’.In April 29 2014, Yang Yang terminated the contract with Rosat Film Production. Four months after that, he starred in director Su Youpeng’s first movie The Left Ear as Xu Yi. It was announced on September 1st that Yang Yang would cast in the role Zhang Qiling in the super season broadcast drama The Lost The Lost Tomb.
In January 16 2015, the movie The Unbearable Lightness of Inspector Fan made its official release, Yang Yang was typed as villain in this movie for the first time, a scheming, evil-minded, merciless military officer James Wu, who would get what he wants at all costs.
